Long

Madeline Ewanyshyn is a published writer and librarian with a deep love for storytelling, creativity, and community. Her passion for writing began at six when she first understood what an author was, and she's been crafting stories ever since. She earned a BA in Creative Writing from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2019, where she specialized in prose while also exploring poetry, screenwriting, and young adult fiction.

Her background in libraries and teaching children’s creative writing has shaped her interest in storytelling for young readers, particularly in themes of childhood, nostalgia, mental health, and identity. Her current project, Always or Never At All, is a YA fantasy-realism novel that explores the tension between nostalgia and growth, the allure of escapism, and the complexities of fractured childhood friendships. As a neurodivergent and Queer writer, she believes in the power of storytelling to create understanding and connection.

She lives and writes on the unceded territory of the hÉ™nÌ“q̓əmin̓əmÌ“ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim speaking peoples and is committed to uplifting marginalized voices in literature. For her, writing and librarianship are about building community, and she strives to create stories that resonate and endure.
